Proposed Development

Woolworths

Wyong Shire Council this week endorsed a planning proposal -- which could lead to the establishment of a Woolworths being constructed at Wadalba -- be forwarded on to the State Government’s Gateway Review Panel for an initial determination.

The 1.5 hectare site on Figtree Boulevarde has been earmarked for a $14 million Woolworths development that will include a supermarket, speciality shops and a petrol station.

The proposed development has the potential to create more than 220 jobs, including around 130 jobs during construction.

Warnervale Town Centre

The State Government has predicted that by 2031 the Central Coast will have an additional 100,000 residents, and this will require around 45,000 more jobs (as outlined in the Central Coast Regional Strategy).

Warnervale Town Centre will be focused on a vibrant main street that provides access to all the principal activities within the town centre. It has been designed with people in mind and will contain a balance of shopping, community facilities, entertainment facilities and open space. The town centre will include:

- A library/knowledge centre that incorporates a range of community functions

- A focus on a mix of retail commercial and residential areas including cafes, restaurants and entertainment facilities on the main street

- Transport upgrades including a new major railway station including bus interchange and commuter carpark, new roads, cycleways, footpaths and more public transport

- Employment opportunities for approximately 1,200 people in retail, commercial and bulky goods sectors

- Open space and conservations areas.

- An Indoor Recreation Centre.

Wadalba Housing Boom

WYONG Shire could be on the verge of a mini housing boom after the State Government identified a huge 1700-lot site at east Wadalba for fast-track development.

It is one of only seven sites of more than 100 hectares throughout NSW that the government wants fast tracked to meet a housing shortage.

Wyong Hospital Upgrade

CARE at Wyong Hospital's emergency department will be enhanced and the cancer day unit upgraded.

Health Minister Jillian Skinner discussed the plans during a hospital visit last week. Ms Skinner said cancer day units at Gosford and Wyong had been expanded with improved chemotherapy services.

She also visited the hospital's emergency department to discuss plans to speed up patient treatment. Planning is underway for a 13-bed emergency department short stay unit and eight-bed urgent care centre.
